THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY WATER BOARD SAYS SIXTY (60%) OF ITS ANNUAL REVENUE IS LOST TO ILEGAL CONNECTION
The Federal Capital Territory Water Board says sixty (60%) of its annual revenue are lost to illegal connection to its water trunk on paid water bills, and leakages from pipe-borne water within the Territory.
The General Manager FCT Water Board, Engr. Tauheed Amusan gave these details while speaking on the activities of the Board for the outgoing year, maintaining that about Four Hundred Million Naira (400,000,000.00) are lost annually to all unplugged avenues and gaps.
The Engr. went further to explain that none revenue water includes leakage which is global, none revenue water globally is allowed for about ten-twenty percent (10%-20%) but for us in Abuja, we have about sixty (60%) percent. You cannot do without leakage, you will have leakage.
Engr Amusan said the Board is working round the clock to plug all illegal connections to the main trunk with the assurance that in the next five(5) years with the new approach and support from the Federal Capital Territory Administration, there will be valid water supply to average residents of the FCT. He said they are trying to look at these challenges, aggregate them, and put the five (5) year dream together.
The five (5 ) year dream is to revitalize FCT Water Board in five years. The Board will supply FCT residents with water for drinking, industrial, and all other responsible needs of the residents of the FCT. The Agency shall embrace high Technological tools in accomplishing our task.
