NO ABSCONDMENT OF PILGRIMS IN 6 YEARS; DIRECTOR SAYS
According to an interview with John Dabara, Director of the Federal Capital Territory Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Board has not had any pilgrims abscond during its six years of operation. Dabara attributes this to the Board’s strict adherence to security protocols during the selection and vetting process.
He emphasized that pilgrimage is a holy and spiritual exercise and that the Board has also not experienced any unfortunate incidents with its pilgrims during this period.
The FCT Pilgrims have been recognized as the best in the country by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. Dabara explained that the Board uses tools to screen and evaluate intending pilgrims based on the forms they submit, and then conducts physical screening with the help of security agencies.
The Director emphasized that the Board seeks divine guidance in the selection process to ensure that only those who will represent Nigeria well are chosen. He stressed that the significance of pilgrimage is spiritual rather than physical, and it is a means for Christians to connect with their Creator.
