THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS ANNOUNCED THAT APRIL 21ST AND 24TH WILL BE OBSERVED AS PUBLIC HOLIDAYS TO CELEBRATE EID-IL-FITR.
The Ministry of Interior’s Permanent Secretary, Shuiab Belgore, has announced that Friday 21st and Monday 24th of April 2023 have been declared public holidays by the Federal Government to commemorate the EIdil-Fitr Celebration for this year. The declaration was made by the Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on behalf of the Federal Government, who congratulated all Muslims for completing Ramadan successfully.
Aregbesola encouraged Muslims to practice the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice, and good neighborliness, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). He advised that the spiritual consciousness, self-denial, self-restraint, and sacrifice that accompanied the fasting period should be maintained and improved upon to become a better person and true worshipper.
Aregbesola assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari is fully committed to a peaceful transition of government after successful elections and the government’s commitment to providing security for every citizen and foreigner’s life and property remains firm.
The Minister urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspicious individuals and activities to law enforcement agencies nearest to them, stating that security is everyone’s responsibility. He also encouraged Nigerians to report suspicious activities and persons to the N-Alert application.
