Addressing journalists shortly after inspecting ongoing repairs on some recently vandalized manhole covers along the B6 and B12 circle roads in the Central Business District of the FCC on Monday, January 6, 2024, the Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, said that such acts of vandalism damage public infrastructure and deprive citizens of essential services and resources.

The Minister said, “We were at the OSEX, which CGC is carrying out. They have assured us that they will hand over that OSEX by May. I believe them. This is not the first time they have made a promise and fulfilled it, so I have no reason to doubt them. We then went to the Court of Appeal Division of Abuja. The contractor has restated that by September 2025, by the grace of God, they will still hand over.”
He said, “From the junction, you can see the roads surrounding the Judges Quarters – it’s something else entirely. The level of work carried out in the Judges Quarters is truly amazing. And look at this place; from the last time we came, we couldn’t even reach this point, and the company has now finished this major culvert. We are very happy with the progress.”

He said, “Normally criminals will like to take advantage and try to make it uncomfortable for our citizens. I believe we are prepared to provide security for us. You have done well, you have done good policing, but we will not fold our arms and say things are ok now.
He said adequate provision was made in the budget of the FCT by the National Assembly for the purchase of the 50 operational vehicles, adding that the FCTA had, earlier in the year, also distributed 50 operational vehicles to the security agencies, bringing the total number to 100.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Minister said that legal institutions could do a lot more in providing infrastructure if adequately funded and called for the amendment of the TETFUND Act to include the Nigerian Law School as a fund beneficiary.
He said, “The Body of Benchers is very grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and Chief Executive of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for approving the initiative of the Honourable Minister for the FCT, His Excellency, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Life Bencher, CON for interventions of provision of basic infrastructural facilities in the Nigerian Law School, Body of Benchers and the judiciary”.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Minister said the provision of access roads would encourage the development of the real estate sector, enhance access to the markets for agricultural produce, and also decongest the Abuja city center.
