Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youths and Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO), have expressed their gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for the recent commissioning of road projects across the six area councils and the approval for establishing a Federal Polytechnic in Gwarimpa.

In a statement signed by the organisation’s president, Commandant David Isaac, the group lauded the administration for significantly enhancing connectivity and fostering economic development within the FCT through these initiatives.
Isaac highlighted that the inauguration of critical road infrastructure would improve accessibility and reduce travel times, especially in rural communities, while facilitating economic activities. He further celebrated the announcement of a Federal Polytechnic in Abuja, describing it as a major milestone for the indigenous population.
“This administration stands out for providing unprecedented appointments and infrastructural advancements for the indigenous people of the FCT,” he stated.
Isaac also called for a portion of the Polytechnic’s recruitment and admissions to be reserved for FCT natives to promote inclusivity. Additionally, he appealed for subsidised school fees and scholarships tailored to the Indigenous people, akin to similar provisions in other states, to encourage more local families to pursue education.
The organisation commended Minister Wike for his dedication to infrastructure development, noting his swift execution of essential projects. “The construction of these roads will reduce travel times, ease traffic congestion, and improve safety in rural Abuja,” Isaac noted.
He expressed optimism that the enhanced infrastructure would attract businesses, generate job opportunities, and stimulate economic growth in the FCT. Improved road networks are also expected to bolster community development initiatives by enhancing public transport, healthcare, and educational access.
The group urged the minister to complement physical infrastructure with human capacity development and welfare programmes, citing the urgent need to address hunger in the region. “Empowering rural communities through welfare initiatives will ensure sustainability and foster pride in maintaining these developments for future generations,” Isaac concluded.
The AOIYEO reaffirmed its appreciation for the administration’s vision and leadership, describing the ongoing transformations as a “game-changer” for FCT residents.
