ADESOLA ENCOURAGES CORPS MEMBERS TO ENGAGE IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Mr. Olusade Adesola, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has encouraged Corps Members who have been assigned to Abuja to actively engage with their host communities by participating in Community Development Services (CDS) activities, thereby leaving a positive impact.

Adesola delivered this message during the Swearing-in Ceremony for the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Programme at the FCT NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kubwa on Friday.

In his address, the Permanent Secretary urged Corps Members to identify key areas requiring attention in their respective communities, such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability. By earnestly addressing these needs, they would significantly contribute to the FCT’s and the nation’s overall development.

Highlighting the significance of the NYSC Scheme in fostering national unity, Adesola also encouraged Corps Members to actively partake in initiatives that enhance unity within their communities.

Adesola emphasized the importance of adhering to camp regulations and abstaining from various social misconducts like cultism, drug misuse, prostitution, and internet fraud throughout the orientation program and beyond.

Furthermore, he advised Corps Members to make the most of their compulsory one-year service period by acquiring practical skills relevant to their future careers, enhancing their personal growth, and boosting their employability.

Addressing safety concerns, Adesola assured the Corps Members that Abuja is relatively secure, and the necessary security measures have been put in place to safeguard their well-being. He reiterated the FCT Administration’s commitment to prioritizing the safety of residents and visitors.

Lastly, he reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s dedication to promptly disbursing monthly allowances to all Youth Corps Members serving under the Administration’s auspices, along with other welfare provisions.
